Toddler, Babysitter Attacked By Pit Bull In East Harlem
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A toddler and his babysitter were seriously injured in a pit bull attack Friday.
The attack happened in East Harlem inside the laundry room of a building on East 101st Street.
Witnesses said the dog's owner was letting it run around without a leash before it bit the child and then clamped down on the woman's leg.
Another resident heard screaming and raced to the rescue.
"I hit the dog a couple of times trying to, you know, get him loose, and that didn't work," he said. "I grabbed a bag, wrapped it around the dog's head. I knew if he didn't have air, he would have to let go."
One neighbor told CBS2 she believes the dog has caused trouble before.
