Toby Keith 'Like[s] Girls That Drink Beer' On Video, Too
You've already heard the song and seen the lyric video for Toby Keith's latest single, "I Like Girls That Drink Beer." Now Toby has released the 'official' music video for the song, and it's as rambunctious and party-ready as you would imagine.
The video was directed by Michael Salomon, who has helmed music videos for rock bands (Metallica's "One") as well as a wide range of country artists, from Nanci Griffith and Pam Tillis to Trace Adkins and Brooks & Dunn. He's also behind a whole bunch of Toby's best-known videos, including "Beer For My Horses" and "Red Solo Cup." Salomon even directed the 2008 theatrical film Beer For My Horses, which starred Toby (along with a whole range of musicians including Willie Nelson, Ted Nugent, David Allan Coe, Mel Tillis, and Mac Davis).
The "Girls That Drink Beer" video is based around a live performance of the song, and it shows both Toby on stage and the adoring fans in his audience (the majority of them female) often at the same time, using a split screen. It's got very few frills and so, like "Red Solo Cup," echoes the nature of the song--which of course, as anyone can guess, doesn't take a postgraduate degree to decipher. This is a song that's all about having fun and cutting loose. And, you know, drinking beer.
What do you think? Does it hold up to Toby's previous videos?
The song is the first single from Toby's upcoming album Hope on the Rocks, which is due out November 13.
