Times Square Tests Confetti For New Year's Eve
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The magical moment at midnight on New Year's Eve with the confetti flying over Times Square doesn't happen without some practice.

Lori Raimondo from the Times Square Alliance says they test the air worthiness of the square-inch color tissue paper so it falls perfectly when midnight strikes.
"We want to make sure that it works right. You have to fluff it up. You can't just throw it in a big handful and it should float down magically, not just drop in a clump," she told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.
Watching the dry run may be the best of both worlds for Melissa Davies and her friend from Australia. They're not sure they'll make it to Times Square for New Year's Eve.
Raimondo says one ton of the tissue paper will be used and the squares will have wishes written on them from celebrities and thousands of people from more than 50 countries.
"We've got ones that actually are proposals, people saying 'Michael, will you marry me?' 'I want to find my soul mate,'" she said. "And this is across all the countries."
