Power Mostly Restored In Monmouth County
TINTON FALLS, N.J. (AP/CBS 2/WCBS 880/1010 WINS) -- Authorities said a power outage that affected thousands of homes and businesses in Monmouth County Monday has been mostly resolved.
The outage appears to have been centered in the Tinton Falls-Eatontown-Red Bank area. It began shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.
WCBS 880 reported that nearly 85,000 Jersey Central Power & Light customers were without electricity at one point Monday.
The utility said most the issues were resolved as of 11 p.m. All power was expected to be back by early Tuesday morning.
Affected communities included Red Bank, Neptune, Ocean Township, Marlboro, Holmdel, Asbury Park and Eatontown.
Reports said an explosion at a Tinton Falls substation may have caused the outages.
