PSE&G: Power Restored To Thousands Affected By Outage
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A supply line problem left about 15,000 utility customers without power in parts of New Jersey Tuesday. However, as of 7:30 p.m., PSE&G said it had restored power to those affected by the outage.
The utility said that customers in parts of Bergen and Passaic counties had been without power since about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
At least one railroad crossing gate was stuck in the down position in Hawthorne and stoplights were out in some of the other affected areas with police officers forced to direct traffic.
The affected towns included Hawthorne, Fair Lawn, Haledon, North Haledon, Wayne, Paterson and Totowa.
The cause is under investigation, but a supply line problem at a substation in Wayne is likely to blame.
