Thousands Of Cyclists Ride To Fight MS
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There were lots of street closures around the City Sunday as bikers rode to spread awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.
Around 5,000 cyclists circled Manhattan on 30 miles of closed roadways during the Bike MS NYC event. Parts of the West Side Highway and FDR Drive were also involved.
The participants were expected to help raise more than $3 million in support of hundreds of programs and services organized by the Southern NY Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The outreach helps patients in the Big Apple, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties.
The fundraising was also intended to support research for the cause, treatment and cure of the disease.
