This Week: Caitlyn Jenner Debuts & The Kardashian-West Clan Grows
This week, a former Olympian reveals a new self, and a family clan is getting even bigger.
By now, news of Caitlyn Jenner has probably spread to even the most remote of places on this planet, but just in case you missed it: Bruce Jenner is now Caitlyn Jenner.
The former Olympian revealed her new look on the cover of Vanity Fair with a photograph shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz. Jenner also debuted her look on her newly created Twitter account, which reached a world record of one million followers in about 4.5 hours. Talk about social reach!
While this is a huge step forward for the transgender community, it wouldn't be a hot button issue if everyone didn't have something to say. Of course, social media shared its thoughts on Jenner's transformation, including tweets from Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, who supported her. A slew of other celebrities also had words to share from Snoop Dogg, who called Jenner a "science project," to Dennis Rodman, who wants Jenner to ask him out.
But all that aside, it takes a courageous and brave soul to truly be themselves.
It seems the Kardashian-Jenner clan is having quite the week. Before Caitlyn Jenner's announcement, Kim Kardashian made headlines of her own. Brace yourselves: Kim Kardashian is pregnant with her second child!
That's right, the queen of reality television and hubby Kanye West are expecting their second child, giving North West a possible brother or sister. The news came as a surprise to viewers who tuned into the mid-season finale of the reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," where Kardashian tells her sister Khloe that a blood test confirmed her pregnancy.
We can already tell that North is going to be the best big sister ever.
There are some pretty strange exercise routines out there, and usually, hiking doesn't fall into that category. But for singer Taylor Swift, a recent picture that surfaced of her hiking backwards has many wondering if she's trying a new form of exercise or attempting to pass a sobriety test.
In the picture, Swift is seen walking backwards while a male dressed in a security uniform has his arm pointed straight out while looking directly at Swift. In all honesty, it does look a little weird.
However, Swift had a little fun with the speculation before telling everyone the real story. As Swift explained in her Tumblr post, "I saw the guy with the camera and wasn't in the mood so I hiked the whole trail backwards and my security told me when to make turns."
Swift summed up what many celebrities probably go through when taking a casual stroll in her follow-up post saying: "Ah, the tranquility of the great outdoo-TAYLORCANYOULOOKOVERHEREGIVEUSASMILEAREYOUDAT."
4. Vince Vaughn and…Gun Violence?
Actor Vince Vaughn is known for making hilarious movies and starring in the upcoming "True Detective," but what many are just finding out is that he's also an advocate for guns…in schools.
In an interview with the British edition of GQ, Vaughn expressed his beliefs on guns in America.
"Of course. You think the politicians that run my country and your country don't have guns in the schools their kids go to?" Vaughn asked before answering, "They do. And we should be allowed the same rights. Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat."
Everyone is entitled to their own political opinion, but maybe Vaughn should just stick to the jokes.
As many speculate that drones are taking over the world, a recent incident involving one of the machines and singer Enrique Iglesias isn't helping the debate.
The "Hero" singer is undergoing reconstructive hand surgery after his fingers were sliced while grabbing a drone during a concert in Tijuana, Mexico. Iglesias kept things going as long as he could before being advised to end the show and get some medical attention.
At least the drone didn't attack Iglesias' face. Could you imagine the world without it?
