With its 28 acres of gardens and landscaping overlooking the Hudson River, Wave Hill is one of the most beautiful places in New York City at any time of year. There is always something fun to do, especially for little ones. In the winter months, Wave Hill hosts Family Art Projects that incorporate nature while educating and entertaining young children. Admission is free all day on Tuesdays, until April.
The Bronx Zoo
2300 Southern Boulevard
Bronx, NY 10460
(718) 367-1010

We like the Tiger Mountain exhibit, which features six playful tiger cubs (awww). But there's plenty more for kids to do at the Bronx Zoo. For the holidays, they're screening a 4-D version of the Christmas favorite, Polar Express.
New York Botanical Garden
The New York Botanical Garden
Enid A. Haupt Conservatory
Bronx River Parkway (Exit 7W) at Fordham Road
Bronx, New York

While the Holiday Train Show is the current big happening at the Botanical Garden (and with good reason - the magical exhibit will impress youngsters and adults alike), there are a number of current and upcoming reasons to visit the location. In the New Year, visitors can look forward to Caribbean Garden, a look at tropical trees and foliage, and The Orchid Show, now in its 10th year.
Yankee Stadium
1 East 161st Street
Bronx, NY 10451
(646) 977-TOUR or (212) YANKEES
newyork.yankees.mlb.com
While New York's boys of summer are spending winter elsewhere, it's the perfect time to take a tour of Yankee Stadium. Classic tours are offered through mid-March and take visitors through Monument Park, The New York Yankees Museum and the press box, as well as giving them a taste of the Batter's Eye Seats in center field. Tours last 45 minutes and while children under 4 get in free, unless you have a die hard Yankee fan of a toddler, this is probably better appreciated by older children.
Lehman Center for the Performing Arts
250 Bedford Park Blvd. West
Bronx, NY 10468
(718) 960-8833
lehmancenter.org
The diversity of the Bronx is reflected in the offerings here at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. The programming is impeccable and the tickets are inexpensive. This season, bring the family to a doo-wop show or a Blues Brothers Tribute.
