Terrorism Response Exercise Held On L.I.
OLD BETHPAGE, NY (WCBS 880) - Nassau and Suffolk County police responded to a frightening scenario.

"Responders have stopped the vehicle, but they've got armed terrorists. They've got a a nerve agent in the back of the truck. It's right off the Long Island Expressway, and now, what do you do?" Fortunately, this is only a training mission for local police in dealing with weapons of mass destruction, explains Don Kelly of the National Center for Biomedical Research in Training.
It's necessary training, according to Suffolk homeland security deputy chief Mark White.
"It's the police officer or the firefighter on the front lines. He's the first one there. We've seen that recently in Times Square with the fire department and police department," White told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.
White says it's how we save lives.
