EXTRA: Shehadeh Warrant and Complaint (pdf)
Abdel Hameed Shehadeh appeared briefly Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court. He did not enter a plea to making false statements to U.S. authorities investigating international terrorism.
A criminal complaint says Shehadeh, a U.S. citizen, originally wanted to join Taliban forces in Pakistan. It says the 21-year-old New Yorker later went to a Times Square military recruiting station, hoping the Army would deploy him to Iraq.
Authorities say Shedaheh also created websites that posted speeches by al-Qaida leaders. He was arrested earlier this month in Hawaii.
