Temporary Housing On The Way For NJ Residents Displaced By Sandy
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- FEMA will soon start deploying temporary housing to New Jersey residents displaced by Superstorm Sandy.
The decision was announced late Friday night by Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., whose district includes some of the areas hardest-hit by the storm. Pallone says the process could get under way as early as Monday.
Pallone says the temporary housing, such as mobile homes and trailers, will help displaced residents get situated in their own communities and allow them to be near their damaged homes. His Congressional district includes towns in Monmouth, Middlesex and Union counties.
FEMA is working with state and local officials to determine the sites where the temporary housing will be located. It's not yet clear how many people would use the temporary housing or how long it may be in place.
