Teixeira Back In The Yankees' Lineup
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Mark Teixeira has returned to the New York Yankees' lineup following a left calf injury.
Teixeira will bat fifth and play first base in Monday night's game against the Boston Red Sox, the start of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium that concludes the regular season.
He injured his left calf August 27th and returned September 8th at Camden Yards but aggravated the injury diving into first base on a controversial game-ending groundout and has not played since.
Nick Swisher filled in at first base during Teixeira's absence. Through 120 games, Teixeira is batting .255 with 23 home runs and 81 RBIs.
New York also scratched struggling pitcher Ivan Nova from his scheduled start Tuesday and replaced him with David Phelps.
How big of a boost will Teixeira give the Yankees in their chances of winning the AL East? Sound off below…
