Teens Charged With Vandalizing, Stealing From At Least 15 Cars In LIRR Parking Lot
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Five teenagers on Long Island are accused of damaging and stealing items from cars at a Long Island Rail Road parking lot over the last two weeks.
Police said officers were tipped off about car break-ins at the LIRR parking lot on Suffolk Avenue in Central Islip by an anonymous caller at around 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
Jose Mendoza, 18, and Gerardo Ramirezperez, 17, were arrested along with three minors, police said.

Upon further investigation, police said they believe the group is responsible for damaging other cars and stealing items from within the vehicles in the same parking lot since May 24.
At least 15 cars were damaged, according to authorities.
Mendoza was charged with five counts of criminal mischief and petit larceny. Ramirezperez was charged with five counts of criminal mischief and two counts of petit larceny. The three minors were charged with three counts of criminal mischief, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and police said additional charges are pending.
