Teen Cyclist Hospitalized After Crash With Truck In Suffolk County

KINGS PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that left a 16-year-old bicyclist in serious condition Sunday.

Police say Brian Simmons, 21, of Kings Park, was driving his 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck west on Meadow Road when his vehicle struck a teen riding a bicycle near Magellan Drive at approximately 10 a.m.

The bicyclist, Jonathan Tully, 16, of Kings Park suffered a head injury and was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center by Suffolk County Police helicopter.

Tully was admitted in stable but guarded condition.

The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
