Teen Charged In 2 Deadly Bed-Stuy Shootings, One Of Which Killed Man, 79
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 19-year-old man was being held without bail Monday in connection with two deadly shootings in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, including one that took the life of an elderly man in a barbershop.
Breeze King was due back before a Brooklyn judge on Thursday.
King was arrested on Oct. 17 when plainclothes officers stopped a car he was riding in at Tompkins and Putnam avenues in Brooklyn. Police said they had been looking for King after witnesses identified him in a barbershop shooting on Sept. 28 of last year.
Andrew Burke, 79, was killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by King, as he sat in the barbershop on Marcus Garvey Boulevard near Putnam Avenue, police told the New York Post.
King was also charged with a shooting this past Aug. 29, which took the life of Michael Griffin, 21. Griffin was in the driver's seat of a car parked on Marcus Garvey Boulevard close to DeKalb Avenue when a gunman shot him once in the head and killed him, the newspaper reported.
King was charged with second-degree murder. There was no attorney information available.
Police said one weapon was recovered.
