Ted Cruz In Danger Of Getting Shut Out Of Delegates In New York Primary
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York voters put a big blow into Sen. Ted Cruz's quest of becoming the Republican presidential nominee.
The senator from Texas is in danger of being shut out of delegates after getting trumped in the New York Republican primary.
Donald Trump easily captured the GOP primary, crushing both Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
CBS2 estimates that Trump has secured 84 of the 95 delegates that were up for grabs. Kasich won two.
During his victory speech, Trump railed against the Republican Party's delegate system, calling it "crooked" and "rigged," and that "we're going back to the old way."

"Nobody should be given delegates, which is a ticket to victory and it's not a fair ticket," Trump said. "And even though we're leading by a lot and we can't be caught — it's impossible to catch us — nobody should take delegates and claim victory unless they get those delegates with voters and voting.
As of 11:00 p.m. ET, Cruz did not get any delegates.
Cruz panned Trump's win as little more than "a politician winning his home state," then implored Republicans to unite around his candidacy.
"We must unite the Republican Party because doing so is the first step in uniting all Americans," Cruz said.
According to the latest CBS News delegate tally, Trump has 838 delegates of the 1,237 needed to secure the nomination. Cruz is second with 554, while Kasich has 145.
