Lanes Remain Open As Tappan Zee Bridge Construction Wraps Up Early
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Construction on the Tappan Zee bridge that was set to close three lanes on the roadway last night wrapped up early, providing relief for commuters looking to travel this weekend.
Officials overseeing the bridge project announced on Twitter Saturday morning that planned weekend construction was completed early and northbound lanes would reopen for the rest of the weekend.
"We would like to thank motorists and the residents of Grand View and South Nyack for their patience and understanding during this time," the NYS Thruway Authority tweeted.
A triple-lane closure on the northbound lanes of the bridge was set to start at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 2 p.m. Saturday.
