Talk Renewed Of Privatizing Long Island Power Authority
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Privatizing the Long Island Power Authority is among the options reportedly under serious consideration by New York State in the wake of the utility's dismal response to superstorm Sandy.

It's an idea drawing mixed reaction from electric customers, although all seem to agree something must be done.
"I think they gotta update their system," said one.
"I want it, uh, where somebody's responsible," said another.
Some believe privatization would improve efficiency by allowing the utility to run more like a business.
Stephen Liss, who helped write the LIPA statute, told Newsday that privatization would be difficult and cost ratepayers.
A report on the subject is expected by the end of the month.
At the 121212 concert at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, Billy Crystal joked, "You can feel the electricity in the building which means that Long Island Power is not involved."
People were left without power for weeks after the storm.
