Yesterday, the Governor's Office announced that it has launched an online video tour and photo gallery for the Executive Mansion. By clicking on the governor's website, computer users can tour the mansion and learn more about its place in New York state history.
Governor David Paterson calls the structure an "historic treasure'' that truly belongs to all New Yorkers.
The mansion's online tours include video, photos and information on the 29 New York governor's who have lived at the downtown Albany residence.
Actual tours of the Executive Mansion have been available for years. State officials say the online tour will give New Yorkers all of the access and information available on traditional tours.
The 39-room mansion became the governor's residence about 20 years after being built in 1856. Occupants have included Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Thomas Dewey, Hugh Carey and Mario Cuomo.
