Tae Kwon Do Championship On Long Island To Benefit Superstorm Sandy Victims
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Martial artists are bringing their fighting spirit to Nassau County to help those still recovering from superstorm Sandy.
As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, tae kwon do Master Ed Park and his father, Yeon Hwan, a former U.S. Olympic coach, are bringing this year's New York Open Tae Kwon Do Championship to Nassau County, donating all admission proceeds. The event will be held Oct. 19 at Cantiague Park Ice Arena in Hicksville.

"The martial arts spirit is of respect and discipline, and so when that group of people comes together, it's really a special time and a special moment," Park said.
The event will be accompanied by the Korean Cultural Festival.
