Swisher Not In Yankees' Lineup; Expects To Play Monday
NEW YORK (WFAN) — Yankees' right fielder Nick Swisher was scratched for Sunday's series finale against the Washington Nationals.
Mark Feinsand of the Daily News reported today that Swisher isn't available even as pinch-hitter. Swisher told reporters his injury "feels like the worst charley horse ever."
Swisher sustained a quad contusion on Saturday when he slid into home in the sixth inning and was removed from Saturday's game. After the game, the injury worsened to the point that he couldn't go on Sunday.
Andruw Jones took Swisher's place in Saturday's lineup. Thankfully for the Yankees, it appears likely Swisher will be able to return on Monday.
Swisher felt "all knotted up" but is hoping to play on Monday when the Yankees begin a three-game series at Yankee Stadium against the Atlanta Braves.
