Swiffer Couple From Long Island Enjoys The Spotlight
VALLEY STREAM (CBSNewYork) -- Lee and Morty Kaufman, the stars of a TV commercial for Swiffer cleaning products, have become an overnight sensation.
The Valley Stream, Long Island, couple, who has been married for 44 years, landed the gig after their daughter knew a casting director. Morty is 91, and Lee is 90.
The spot shows Lee struggling with an old-school mop and bucket. After Morty opines that there should be an easier way, a package of Swiffer products is dropped off on their doorstep. The couple then marvels at how easy to use and effective the WetJet mop is.

In a phone interview, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall asked Morty if he ever helps his wife with cleaning their house.
"I don't do any cleaning really," he said. "I make dirt."
The couple recently got a reminder about their newfound fame when they stopped to eat at a diner.
"Fifteen ladies, and they had their cameras," Lee said. "It was a big, fun thing."
"And our grilled cheese sandwiches got cold," Morty quipped.
