The Yankees struggled through September but finally got to pop some champagne with their 6-1 win over the Blue Jays Tuesday night. Actually they celebrated with beer, Labatt's to be exact. What else in Canada?
This celebration was fairly raucous at times, but that was mostly from the younger players added to the roster, not the guys who've done this two or three or fifteen times. This year's team made it through a rough-and-tumble AL East, a division where a pile of injuries is the only thing that kept Boston making this a true three-team battle royale.
They all admit this is just the first step. A season is not a success in New York unless there are three more of these celebrations to come. But here are the sounds from a happy but still determined Yankee clubhouse Tuesday night:
