Some residents living along Third Avenue and Ridge Boulevard in Bay Ridge woke up Sunday to find swastikas etched backwards into the hoods of their cars.

David Simson, who lives on 74th Street, noticed his car had been vandalized when he was on his way to church.

"I think it was just stupid," Simson said. "Vandalism is such a stupid crime, the criminal in no way benefits from it."

Police believe the attacks in the predominantly Irish and Italian neighborhood are not a hate crime.

Residents seem to agree.

"I assume it was just some jerk, not a hate crime," Simson said.

No arrests have been made.

Earlier this year, anti-Semitic graffiti was found in Williamsburg and Midwood.
