Suspected Buffalo Mass Shooter Due In Court Thursday
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The suspect in a deadly mass shooting outside a Buffalo restaurant last summer was scheduled to be tried on murder charges next month.
On Thursday, he and his lawyers were due in Erie County Court for last-minute motions.
Prosecutors believe 23-year-old Riccardo McCray was the gunman who opened fire outside the City Grill Aug. 14, killing four people and wounding four others. He denied it.
McCray has been in custody since turning himself in 11 days after the shooting. He pleaded not guilty to first- and second-degree murder.
At a hearing last month, the judge was told that witnesses saw McCray fighting inside and outside of the restaurant before the shooting.
McCray could face life in prison without parole if convicted of the most serious charge.
