Suspect In 1987 Cold Case Killing Arraigned On Second-Degree Murder Charge
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Manhattan man has been charged in the stabbing death of a Brooklyn woman whose body was found in a parking lot 25 years ago.
Edwin Alcaide, 53, of Manhattan was arraigned Friday on a charge of second-degree murder for the death of Lissette Torres.

The 19-year-old was found stabbed multiple times in a lot near the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn on Jan. 1, 1987.
Police suspected Alcaide, who is a registered sex offender and has spent years in prison for attempted murder, rape and drug dealing, from the beginning. He was seen with Torres an hour before she disappeared and a block away from where her body was found, prosecutors said.
But police couldn't link Alcaide to the crime until DNA testing, which wasn't available in 1987, was conducted, reported WCBS 880's Irene Cornell.
Alcaide's DNA matched DNA found under three of Torres' fingernails, prosecutors said.

Torres' family was in court Friday for Alcaide's arraignment.
"I had these feelings for a while, I've had them for a while about him," said Torres' brother-in-law Jose Garcia. "It's just of time. Thanks to the cold case squad."
While the waiting for an arrest in the case is finally over, for Torres' parents, the heartbreak lives on.
"It will be like that for years," her father, Jose Torres, said.
The 19-year-old's parents said they have visited their daughter's grave every month since her death.
