Suspect Hospitalized Following Police Involved Shooting In Wayne

WAYNE, NJ(CBSNewYork) -- Authorities are investigating a police involved shooting that took place in Wayne on Saturday morning.

Police told 1010 WINS that a knife wielding suspect was at home with his mother when he was shot.

The standoff created such a concern that some neighbors had to be evacuated.

"A lot of screaming and the sound was reverberating, it was just a lot of yelling," neighbor Mark Bisonet told 1010 WINS reporter Derricke Dennis.

An unidentified relative showed up at the home, in tears, to clean up blood and evidence gloves, on Saturday.

The suspect was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, the officer involved was uninjured.
