Suspect Charged With Murder Of Reportedly Wheelchair-Bound Woman
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been charged with the murder of a 32-year-old woman who was reportedly wheelchair-bound in a South Williamsburg, Brooklyn apartment this past weekend.
Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, police came to an apartment in the building at 70 Clymer St., where they found Melissa Torres' body in the bathroom. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police found the wheelchair-bound Torres' body in the bathtub, and believed she was strangled or suffocated, according to a New York Daily News report. A man was arrested at the scene, according to police.
On Monday, authorities charged Angelo Sanchez, 41, with murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
Published reports said Torres' boyfriend, with whom she has a 2-year-old son, was the one arrested.
Autopsy results on Torres were inconclusive, according to published reports.
