Suspect Charged In Union City Slaying
UNION CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Hudson County authorities say a man who reported finding a friend's body inside his apartment will now likely face charges in the man's death.
County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said Sunday that the suspect -- identified only as a Union City man -- knew the victim, 34-year-old Edwin Acosta of Union City.
DeFazio told The Jersey Journal of Jersey City that Acosta's body was found Saturday in the suspect's Union City apartment. He said the men had been "socializing together" on Friday night, and it's believed Acosta was killed sometime early Saturday.
DeFazio said Acosta had been strangled, but did not disclose further details.
The prosecutor said he anticipated that charges would be filed soon, but added that the investigation was ongoing.
