Survivor Of Fatal Crash On Route 3 In North Bergen Released From Hospital
NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities announced one of two men injured in a northern New Jersey highway crash that killed three others has been released from the hospital.
The Jersey Journal reports 23-year-old Michael Martinez of Weehawken was treated for undisclosed injuries suffered in Saturday morning's crash on Route 3 East in North Bergen. The other injured man, 18-year-old Ramon Rosario of Jersey City, remained hospitalized Sunday in critical condition but is expected to recover.
The accident occurred just before the approach to Route 495, which leads to the Lincoln Tunnel. All four passengers were ejected after the car hit a concrete pillar and rolled over several times.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was the only one not ejected from the car.
Joshua Nayorga, a 23-year-old Union City resident, was killed along with the vehicle's driver and another passenger. Their names haven't been released.
Police told 1010 WINS on Saturday that they believe speed may have been a factor and that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in crash but could not be positive until results of a toxicology test were available.
