Summer Streets Fun In NYC!
Mom always said, "Don't play in the street." Well now is your chance to break the rules! Summer Streets is a fun way to get the family outside to bike, run, and enjoy a traffic-free environment, right here in New York City. Join CBS2's Lonnie Quinn for a 7-mile long summer block party on August 7th, 14th, and 21st.
Summer Streets 2010 creates a no motor zone, suitable for environmentally friendly modes of transportation such as biking, rollerblading, running, or even walking. The unique event is open to all ages and provides families with a fun and safe way to exercise together in yoga classes, tennis lessons, swimming, biking, blading –all for free!
By eliminating the amount of cars in the area over these three Saturdays, NYC will promote healthy recreation and encourage the use of sustainable forms of transportation to help the environment. Opening the crowded streets of Manhattan will provide a vital new outdoor space for people to breathe and escape crowded parks.
