Suffolk Police: Man Shot After He Interfered in Arrest
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police tell 1010 WINS that a man was shot by an officer after he tried to interfere in a woman's arrest on Long Island.
Authorities say the incident happened in West Babylon around 4 p.m. Police officers were called to a Dunkin' Donuts to assist with reports of suicidal woman in the shop.
Police arrived at the scene and were attempting to arrest the woman, when another man tried to get involved to prevent the arrest.
During the ensuing scuffle, police said, an officer drew his weapon and shot the man. The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.
Police did not say if the man knew the woman being arrested.
