Suffolk Police: Bicyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run
DIX HILLS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Melville man was arrested on Monday night and charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of an Amityville bicyclist.
Albert Dibernardo, 28, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting Involving a Fatality. He was being held overnight at the Second Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
A passing motorist spotted the victim around 10 a.m. Monday on the side of Express Drive North in Dix Hills. The man was dead when police arrived. It is unknown what time the crash occurred.
The victim Ricardo Fernandez, 44, was riding a blue and orange Lemond racing bike and wearing a green, white and yellow cycling shirt and shoes.
