Suffolk Police Arrest Alleged Bank Robber Who Took Off In Cab
NORTH BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man has been arrested and charged in connection with a bank robbery in North Babylon.
Suffolk County police said Brian Blackford entered a TD Bank on Deer Park Avenue just before 1:15 p.m. Sunday and gave the teller a note that demanded cash.
The teller complied and Blackford fled in a taxi, police said.
Police were notified via radio of the cab's description and First Precinct police officers located the taxi on Weeks Road in North Babylon, according to authorities.
Blackford, 41, of Kings Park, was arrested and charged with third-degree bank robbery.
He is expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
