Suffolk Co. Police: Woman Arrested For DWI While Taking Shooting Victim To Hospital
EAST ISLIP, NY (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island say a woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car while trying to take a shooting victim to the hospital early Saturday morning.
Suffolk County police say it all started when a group of people got into a fight outside Norton's Bar and Grill on Connetquot Avenue in East Islip just after 3 a.m.
Cops say someone started shooting and 24-year-old Jovan Bailey was hit multiple times.
As 21-year-old Nyasha Hunter was driving Bailey to the hospital, police say she crashed her car on Sunrise Service Road at Saxon Avenue in Islip.
Hunter and two other people in the car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Bailey was also taken to the hospital and was listed in serious condition.
Police have charged Hunter with DWI.
