Suspect Charged In 6 Train Subway Shove Incident
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man accused of pushing a transgender woman onto the No. 6 train subway tracks has been charged.
Only CBS2's cameras were there as Rolan Reid was taken in a straight jacket on a stretcher to Bellevue Hospital Center Friday.
Sources told CBS2 he was placed in the straight jacket after becoming hostile with officers during questioning.
Reid was found by police on the No. 6 line at Canal Street shortly before midnight Friday, 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reported.
Sources told CBS2 he was wearing the same clothes he was seen wearing on surveillance video at the time of the incident and when questioned by police, threatened "I'm going to push you guys on the tracks."
Reid has been arrested 28 times in the past.
He now faces charges of attempted murder as a hate crime, and second- and third-degree assault as a hate crime.

It was around 9 a.m. on Monday at the Bleecker Street subway station when Reid allegedly walked up to the 28-year-old victim on the southbound No. 6 train platform.
Surveillance video shows a man in a light blue shirt and khakis reach into a trash drum and pull out a plastic bottle. This happened after he said, "What are you looking at?" to the woman, police said.
After throwing the bottle, the suspect pushed the victim from the platform onto the tracks, police said.
Good Samaritans pulled her to safety before a train reached the station.
Police are treating the incident as a possible bias attack because the victim is transgender.
