Students To Study Hudson From Big Apple To State Capital
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Environmental educators and school kids up and down the Hudson were on the river Thursday collecting scientific information to create "A day in the life of the Hudson River."
The annual program, now in its eighth year, helps participants understand how their piece of the river fits into the larger Hudson estuary ecosystem. It's sponsored by the state Department of Environmental Conservation's Hudson River Estuary Program.
About 3,000 students and educators will sample the estuary's waters at more than 60 sites from New York Harbor to the Capital District.
Results will be added to a rich data set from previous "Day in the Life" events and will be made available for classroom activities.
