Struggling Nets, Knicks Set For Christmas Day Games
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Knicks and Nets were both set to play on Christmas Day, but a pair of 9 and 18 records has left some fans disappointed.
The Nets will be up against the Chicago Bulls at noon Wednesday at the Barclays Center. And the Knicks will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at Madison Square Garden at 2:30 p.m.
But CBS 2's Steve Overmyer reported Tuesday night that the Knicks and Nets' records might force fans to watch a burning yule log instead.
Knicks star Carmelo Anthony will be a game-time decision for their Christmas matchup with the Thunder.
Anthony sprained his left ankle in New York's 103-98 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday.
Either way, the Knicks will be without at least one starter Wednesday. They said Tuesday that guard Raymond Felton will miss the nationally televised home game against Oklahoma City because of a strained right groin.
Felton was also hurt Monday after returning from a six-game absence caused by a strained left hamstring.
Meanwhile, Overmyer reported, the Nets are a team in crisis mode. They lost Tuesday night to the Indiana Pacers 103-86, and Coach Jason Kidd has suggested that his team has accepted losing, Overmyer reported.
And to make matters worse, Overmyer reported, the team will be wearing what Overmyer called the NBA's version of the ugly holiday sweater – sleeveless jerseys.
