Strong Rip Currents Lead Norwegian Cruise Liner To Cause Minor Scare At Pier 88
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Stronger-than-usual rip currents led a Norwegian cruise liner to cause a wake at Pier 88 on Sunday morning.
The Coast Guard said that strong currents in the Hudson River forced the gigantic Norwegian cruise liner to use more propulsion. As a result, that created some large waves which proceeded to bounce around a historic submarine at the Intrepid Sea, Air And Space Museum.

The jostling caused the gangway to fall into the river, but passengers aboard the Norwegian Star said that they didn't notice anything unusual about the docking.
"No, not really," one passenger told WCBS 880's Jim Smith. "We didn't feel anything. We just heard about it."
Early reports had indicated that the Intrepid might have been hit by the cruise ship. That turned out not to be the case, however, as a gangway to the submarine merely fell into the Hudson because of turbulent waters.
No injuries were reported.
