Stories From Main Street: NJ Movie House Showcases Films From Hollywood's Golden Age
WESTWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A new revival movie house in Bergen County is showcasing movies from Hollywood's Golden Age.
A visit to the Rosebud Theater in Westwood is like a trip down memory lane. Self-proclaimed film buff Ray Walsh from Ramsey believes plenty of other folks still have a love affair with the classics.
"And they say, 'Gee, I watched this one with my dad' or 'I watched this with my parents, I remember,'" he told WCBS 880's Sean Adams. "One lady came in and said, 'this was my dad's favorite film and I always wanted to see it the way he saw it.'"
The name "Rosebud" is a nod to the film "Citizen Kane." In the lobby, there's a cardboard cutout of Charlie Chaplin and a replica of the Maltese falcon on the mantlepiece.

"And you could come in and watch a great story with some good acting instead of special effects and bodies flying and explosions," said Walsh.
Even the 94 seats are old. Walsh was a scout for the New York Giants and said the seats came from the suites and the boxes of the old Giants Stadium.
But why come out to a theater when you can see these old classics in the comfort of your own home? Walsh says for the communal experience.
"Just being with like-minded people in the same place, they get the feeling of togetherness, kind of a community feeling," he said. "People applaud at the end of the picture. You don't hear that anymore."
