'Stop De Blasio' Ballot Line To Appear In 2 Assembly Races
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A "Stop de Blasio" line will appear on the upcoming November ballot.
Adele Malpass, chair of the Manhattan Republican Party, said when they started the petition drive to create the "Stop de Blasio" ballot line, they weren't sure how voters would react.
"Bill de Blasio is kind of the gift that keeps on giving," Malpass said. "People would literally wait in line to sign the petition."
Two Assembly candidates, Rebecca Harary and Jon Kostakopoulos, are on the ballot line. They are running in the 73rd and 76th Assembly Districts on Manhattan's East Side.
"I hope that this gives people an opportunity to send a message to Mayor de Blasio that his policies are simply progressively bad," Malpass said.
In a statement, Malpass said the line will give voters "an opportunity to let the mayor and fellow New Yorkers know that they are sick and tired of the direction our city is taking."
Volunteers collected more than 1,500 signatures to create the ballot line.
