Stingray Sightings Up On The Jersey Shore
BELMAR, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - There have been more stingrays sighted on the Jersey Shore. But Belmar authorities say there will be no beach closures and there is no cause for alarm.

The most recent sighting came over the weekend.
"We heard of some stingrays down by the jetty. This is the first time they were ever in the shore break, and I would say like eight or ten of them went by like around like three times. So, we've probably seen like 30 stingrays go by right here in the shore break in the wash area," said Belmar lifeguard Ross O'Neill.
He estimates these rays were a couple of yards long.
There was no panic and no need to close the beach.
Last week, though, Spring Lake did clear the water after stingrays were spotted there.
Lifeguards are seeing more and more marine life all the time - blues, stripers, and dolphins.
"The water's been, I think, the cleanest it's been since I've been here in 17 years. It's like tropical. It's like green blue, clear. You can see straight to the bottom at the end of the jetty," O'Neill told WCBS 880 reporter Adams. "And it's been consistently, it's never been this warm too for whatever reason, it's been 80 degrees everyday. You don't get that unless you're in like Florida."
