Sticker Bandit Voices Frustrations With Empty Upper West Side Storefronts
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Six vacant Upper West Side storefronts have been covered in brown paper for an entire year and someone has apparently had enough.
Stickers with the phrases "This is neighborhood decay" and "This is a neighborhood eyesore" recently began appearing on a strip of stores near 78th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
The space has been under construction to become a bakery and café.
The mystery sticker bandit is a hero to some locals but not to all.
"They've been everywhere in the neighborhood and I think it's a really good service," resident Susan Bodnar told CBS 2's Kristin Thorne.
"Plastering signs on the windows isn't beautifying it," another resident said. "It's not a positive step."
The owner of the bakery and café has not returned calls for comment.
