Steve Kerr: Carmelo Anthony-Amar'e Stoudemire Duo Is 'A Bad Fit'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's been said before, but apparently, it can't be said enough.
With the Knicks coming off a loss to the Nets and a rematch with the Celtics slated for Thursday, TNT analyst Steve Kerr has a problem with the Atlantic Division leaders.
Stop us if you've heard this one before.
Like so many pundits before him, the 15-year NBA veteran doesn't trust that Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire can succeed together on the floor.
"It's a bad fit," said Kerr, according to the New York Daily News. "You can look at the stats when they're on the court, or just look with your own eyes to know they're not an ideal fit."
Ever since Anthony arrived in New York, analysts have repeatedly said that the two superstars don't have the ability to flourish at the same time. Anthony is having an MVP-like campaign, whereas Stoudemire is trying to again become the player he once was after missing time with an injury.
Despite Kerr's concerns, the former Suns general manager still believes that the Knicks pose the greatest threat to the Heat in the Eastern Conference.
That said, he can't envision the 'Bockers taking down Miami in the playoffs.
"I don't think anyone in the East can beat LeBron (James) and Miami four times in a playoff series," Kerr said, according to the Daily News.
The Knicks have won both games they've played against the defending champions this season -- including one in which Anthony was sidelined -- and currently sit 1 1/2 games behind Miami.
In the first round of the playoffs last season, Miami eliminated New York in five games.
In 32 games played this season, Anthony is averaging 29.2 points, 2.6 assists and 6 rebounds per game. Stoudemire has played in just nine games, and is averaging 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.3 blocks.
