Statues Desecrated At Brooklyn Catholic Girls' Elementary School
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are trying to find out who desecrated several statues at the Visitation Academy in Brooklyn.
Police said on Wednesday night, several statues outside the Catholic girl's elementary school in Bay Ridge were knocked off their pedestals. A statue of a lamb was also decapitated.
Sen. Martin Golden has put up a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
"Acts of religious desecration and intolerance have no place within our society, and no one, no matter what faith you follow, approves of such hate," Golden said in a statement.
The academy grounds also house a monastery for the Sisters of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the 68th Precinct at (718) 439-4211 or Golden's office at (718) 238-6044.
