Staten Island Women Upset By Stereotypes Portrayed In Reality Show 'Mob Wives'
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The trash-talking and luxury flaunting women of VH1's "Mob Wives" are making a lot Staten Island residents cringe.
A number of women who talked to 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon admitted that though they tuned in to the show's premiere out of curiosity, they were turned off by the cursing, fighting and stereotyping.

"It makes us look like idiots," said Laura, who watched for a few minutes before turning it off.
Life-long Staten Islander Jodi agreed with those sentiments, going as far as to say the show made "Jersey Shore look like Disney World." She told Rincon that "Mob Wives" portrayed the borough's "lovely, hard-working women" in a negative light.
The characters' actions weren't exactly resonating with Lisa either. She said the show's profanity was "disgusting."
"I think it makes us look a little bit illiterate," Lisa said.
The reality show features Renee Graziano, Karen Gravano, Drita D'avanzo and Carla Facciolo. According to VH1's website, "Mob Wives" is "a docu-soap series that follows the lives of four women at a crossroads, having to pick up the pieces and carry on while their husbands or fathers do time for Mob-related activities."
After hearing about the show from friends -- who have been talking about it -- Debbie said she simply was not interested.
"I didn't watch it because I didn't like the Jersey Shore that they represented Italian people so badly. And I wouldn't want Staten Island to have a bad representation either," Debbie said.
