Babysitter Faces Murder, Sex Abuse Charges In Death Of Staten Island Toddler
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - - A Staten Island woman has been charged in the death of a toddler.
A medical examiner ruled the death of Anthony Delgado a homicide on Tuesday
An autopsy conducted Tuesday found the 16-month-old Staten Island boy died of blunt force injuries to his head and body.
The boy's babysitter Gloria Fields, 31, was arrested and charged with murder, assault, aggravated sex abuse, and acting in a manner injurious to a child, 1010 WINS reported.
The young boy was found unconscious and unresponsive after his grandmother called 911 on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Authorities say the boy's mother left him with a neighbor for the weekend. The neighbor texted the boy's mother Sunday saying he fell. When she brought him to his grandmother, the boy wasn't conscious. Surveillance video showed her carrying his limp body on her shoulder.
Authorities say he had bruising on his body that wasn't consistent with a fall.
