Stage Professionals Put On Flash Mob Performance Against Gun Violence
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Members of the Broadway community and other performing arts professionals staged a performance in Times Square Sunday – but not for entertainment or amusement.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, this was a demonstration about gun violence, and in favor of gun control.
Chanting, rallying and political speeches were nowhere to be found at the demonstration.

"It silenced everybody outside," said choreographer Lorin Latarro.
Latarro choreographed a couple hundred colleagues, Broadway dancers and theatre performers, in a silent flash mob. They slowly collapsed onto the sidewalk.
"And then we stayed for 26 seconds for the 26 victims of Newtown with our hand over somebody's heart," Latarro said.
The protesters then drew chalk outlines around the bodies and wrote the names of the victims inside.
