Sree Tips: Best Apps For Mass Transit
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - With the fall back-to-school and back-to-work season in full swing, we wanted to show you some transit apps that are worth knowing about.
Sree Sreenivasan, tech expert from our partner network CNET and Columbia University's chief digital officer, stopped by with some apps you should know.
The first app is Embark NYC, which is part of a series of apps that help you plan your trip even when you are underground, with an interactive map.
The next app is ExitStrategy NYC, which tells you where the exits are at each subway station, helping you save time when you have to get out in a hurry.
Then there is Metrocalc, an unusual app that helps you calculate how much to add to a MetroCard to have a round number of rides and not lose out on the bonuses.
There is also Rail Bandit, which helps plan your trip on Metro-North, LIRR, PATH, NJ TRANSIT, or Amtrak.
Finally, there is TravAlarm, a fun and unusual alarm clock that alerts you when there's a delay in one of up to three usual transportation routes.
