Sources: L&B Spumoni Gardens Restaurant Co-Owner Shot Dead In Dyker Heights, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The co-owner of the popular L&B Spumoni Gardens restaurant was found shot to death in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn on Thursday evening, sources told CBS2.
Around 7:15 p.m., police found Louis Barbati, 61, with multiple gunshots to the torso in the backyard of his home near 12th Avenue and 76th Street in Brooklyn, police sources said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Barbati's body was found slumped near the side door of the house, sources said. His wife and two sons were in the home at the time of the shooting, sources said.
The suspect fired multiple shots, sources said. Police described him as a white male in his 30s wearing a black hooded sweat shirt.
L&B Spumoni Gardens is a popular family-style restaurant in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. It was founded by Ludovico Barbati in 1939, according to the restaurant website.
